Master of Fine Arts degree
The Warren Wilson Master of Fine Arts degree requires successful completion of four semesters' study and represents mastery in creative writing, contemporary letters, applied criticism, and the tradition of literature...Every six months students gather here on the Warren Wilson College campus, located outside of Asheville in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Although they come from all over the country, they form a cohesive, non-competitive community that offers comraderie, direction and a practical way to pursue writing while maintaining the responsibilities of adult life...This intensive ten-day residency of workshops, classes and readings is combined with a non-resident semester of highly focused study. Our student/faculty ratio is never more than five to one, so that students receive close attention from faculty who are both accomplished writers and committed teachers. (from the web site)Warren Wilson MFA faculty members Richard Russo and Carl Dennis have won the 2002 Pulitzer Prizes in fiction and poetry, respectively, Rick for his novel Empire Falls and Carl for his collection Practical Gods.

Harriette Austin Writing Program
Elements of Fiction, a series of online creative writing workshops. Developed by established writers, writing instructors, and instructional designers, the series is taught by experienced writing instructors, published authors and professionals in related areas, with guest appearances by writers, agents, editors, publicists, and other members of the publishing world. It’s a writing conference, short course and critique group in one.
Each of the 11-week workshops is composed of a class "lecture," assigned readings, external activities, student writing exercises, writing evaluations, a student/instructor feedback forum, and a question and answer section. As part of the effort to make the workshops more meaningful, students are required to work on a personal writing project. Successful completion of the entire course sequence will entitle the graduate to a Certificate in Creative Writing from the University of Georgia.
