Archaeology digs aren't usually murder, but when forensic anthropologist Lindsay Chamberlain signed on with the dig at the Jasper Creek Site, murder is what she found in Burial 23. What should have been an ancient Indian burial turned out to be a woman who had only been in the ground for fifty years. And the trouble is, she's not the only unexpected find. Body after body surfaces near the town of Merry Claymoore, and some of these graves are very fresh. Could these murders be connected to the one that happened a half a century ago? Her discoveries arouse forces that plunge her into the darkest moments of her life. Lindsay uncovers the answers to some very old questions, but the biggest question she must face is whether she has the courage and inner strength to save herself from the terrible death that is planned for her.
